If your job is causing you physical stress, you may want to consider a career change… According to a recent cognitive science study, on-the-job stress can lead to memory decline and loss later in life. Dr. Ileana Berman touches on the topic:

A study released by cognitive science researchers at Colorado State University is making some think differently about their work!  Evidently, physical stress, brought on through work, is being associated with faster brain aging.  In effect, this means weakened cognitive ability and poorer memory performance.

While the effects may not be felt immediately, the study suggests that physical stress can and will spark memory issues later on in life.  This is extremely telling of the importance of taking time to relax.  For your memory and mind’s sake, remember to balance your stress accordingly… in the long run, your brain will thank you!
